Psyllium Husk Powder is made from the seed shell of sheep psyllium after processing and grinding, generally known as Psyllium shell powder or Psyllium fiber.
The fiber content of the husk is 80%, while the fiber content of other fiber-rich cereals such as oats and wheat is only 15% and 10%, respectively. Other nutrients mainly include protein, glucoside, polysaccharide, vitamin B1 and choline.
Psyllium husk (CMC) is a versatile food additive that can play the following roles in different foods and beverages:
1.Thickening agent:It can increase the viscosity and concentration of food and beverages, making it taste better. Common foods include cream, sauces, juices, jams and syrups.
2. Stabilizer: It can help maintain the stability of food and prevent it from separating or solidifying. Common foods include yogurt, cream, jelly and ice cream.
3. Emulsifier: It can help fat and water mix with each other to form an emulsion. For this reason, it is often added to products such as cream, salad dressings, and drinks.
Moisturizer: It can maintain the moisture content of food and prevent dehydration and hardening. Therefore, it is often added to products such as bread, cakes and sweets.
4. Leavening agent: It can produce carbon dioxide during fermentation to help food bulk. Therefore, it is often added to products such as fermented dough, bread and pastries.
5. Enhance the taste: Psyllium shell can increase the stickiness of food, achieve better taste, such as the taste of more lubricity, smoother, smoother and more tender.
It is important to note that psyllium husk is an additive that, while considered relatively safe, may cause adverse reactions such as allergies or gastrointestinal upset at prolonged or high doses. Therefore, it should be used according to actual needs in the food production process to avoid excessive use.
