Zeaxanthin is a crystalline powder, orange-red in color and odorless.

Zeaxanthin is a natural fat-soluble compound, insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents such as ether, esters, etc., and insoluble in water.

Zeaxantin is the main pigment of yellow maize, its molecular formula is C40H56O2, its molecular weight is 568.88 Dalton, its CAS number is 144-68-3.Zeaxanthin is widely distributed in yellow corn, egg yolks, some orange and yellow vegetables and fruits.Zeaxanthin itself does not have the activity of vitamin A, but it plays an important role in the prevention of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) along with its isomer, loxanthin.Zeaxanthin is widely used as a food additive and, in the food industry, in coloring meat products.
