Neomycin Sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. It has good antibacterial effect on Enterobacteriaceae such as Staphylococcus spp (methicillin sensitive strain), Corynebacterium spp, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp and Proteus spp. It has poor activity against all groups of Streptococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Enterococcus spp. Pseudomonas aeruginosa, anaerobic bacteria, etc. are resistant to this product. There is partial or complete cross-resistance between bacteria to streptomycin, neomycin and kanamycin, gentamicin.

1. Neomycin Sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic found in many topical medications. NEOMYCIN SULFATE has been used as a preventive measure for hepatic encephalopathy and hypercholesterolemia.
